Alex Barrelet to ride for Switzerland

Alex Barrelet has been selected to ride for the Swiss Junior Eventing team at the FEI Junior European Eventing Championships, which take place at Haras de Jardy, France this week (12-15 September).

Alex has dual nationality, thus enabling her to ride for the Swiss team at these prestigious championships.

Alex and her mare Welcome Pearmain (‘Twiggy’) have been training with the GB junior squad, having originally been longlisted for the British Junior team, but narrowly missed out at the final selection stage in August. However, Alex is delighted to be riding for her father Fred’s native Switzerland. “I am so pleased to have been invited to ride on the Swiss team, it is a wonderful opportunity”, said Alex.

Alex and Twiggy will travel to France early this week. The pre-Championships veterinary inspection (‘trot-up’) of all horses taking part is scheduled on Wednesday, followed by dressage on Thursday and Friday, the cross country phase on Saturday and show jumping on Sunday.
