Amlin Plus sponsored rider long listed for the Junior European team

Alex Barrelet at Houghton 201317 year old Alex Barrelet is a full time 6th-former at the Perse School, Cambridge.  Her horse Welcome Pearmain (Twiggy), is a 10 year old dark brown KWPN mare standing at just 15.2hh. The combination was spotted by the junior selectors last season after finishing in 9th place at Weston Park Junior 1* Championships.  Her good form has continued this season and Alex was placed 1st in her first ever attempt at BE Intermediate at Oasby Horse Trials in the Spring; this was followed by 5th place at Great Witchingham ON, 6th place at Weston Park OIu18 and 13th at Withington Manor OIu21. The main selection event of the early season was the under 18 National Championships held at Houghton International Horse Trials. This presented a bit of a logistical challenge for Alex because she had AS exams all week, including Maths on the morning of her dressage test!  Alex held her nerve and finished up on her dressage score for a very respectable 10th place.  As a result of her consistent and good form, Alex has been long-listed for the Junior European team.  The Junior Europeans will be held in Jardy, France in September, and Alex very much hopes to be there!
