Tim Stockdale & Fresh Direct The Toymaker 3rd in Oliva

International rider and former Olympian, Tim Stockdale from Roade, Northamptonshire secured 3rd place in the 1.50m FEI CSI3* Gold Tour Grand Prix in Oliva, Spain on Sunday.

With a total of twelve clears being achieved in the first round and qualifying for the jump-off out of a field of forty combinations,  anyone wanting to secure a larger share of the €45,000 prize fund was going to have to fight hard for it.

It was Holger Wulschner with Fine Lady for Germany that managed to lay down the gauntlet with an incredibly fast clear of 42.45seconds.   With other riders all trying to catch his time they were forced into making mistakes, with all bar four of the twelve notching up faults in their haste.

Holding pole position throughout, there wasn’t anyone that managed to catch Holger’s time.  The closest being Rene Tebbel with Cooper 75 who slotted into 2nd place with their time of 46.67 seconds.

Hot on their heels was Tim Stockdale, who stopped the clock less than 1 second behind in a time of 47.41 seconds with his wife’s (Laura) and Marjorie Glasgow’s 9 year-old bay-gelding Fresh Direct The Toymaker.  Cameron Hanley for Ireland took 4th place just .02 seconds behind Tim with the fourth of the jump-off clears achieved.
