Captain Chris out of the Gold Cup

Captain Chris is out of the Gold Cup his trainer Philip Hobbs said on Monday.

“Unfortunately Captain Chris will miss the Gold Cup after a scan has revealed that he has a suspensory problem in a leg,” he said.

“Obviously he will miss the remainder of the season as well but hopefully he will make a full recovery and be back in training at some stage.”

The trainer added: “The horse is totally sound and not lame but the scan has highlighted the problem. It is bad news for his owner’s Grahame and Diana Whately and for the yard as a whole.”
