Blog: Highlights from Ascot
On November 23, the team at Amlin Plus attended Ascot for the second day of the two day November meeting featuring the Amlin 1965 Steeple Chase. Guests of Amlin were invited to attend the day and for our Bloodstock department it was an opportunity to display our passion for racing to the wider business, and of course, some punting prowess.
The Amlin 1965 Steeple Chase was left with just two runners after last year’s winner Captain Chris was unfortunately declared a non-runner. Grey gelding Al Ferof was the eventual winner ahead of French Opera. The final race on the day, The Harriet Roberts Memorial National Hunt Flat Race was won by Josses Hill.
History in the Japan Cup
The Japan Cup had never been won twice by the same horse in its 33-year history until reigning Japanese Horse of the Year Gentildonna, ridden by our own Ryan Moore was victorious on 24 November in Tokyo. Ryan Moore has been globetrotting throughout the flat racing season in America, Dubai, Australia, and Japan. Read more about Ryan Moore’s amazing season in our latest news.
Sales in focus
The Thoroughbred babies have been the focus in the sale ring for the Tattersalls December Foal Sale (27-30 November). It is always exciting to see how the foals develop and grow over the next year where we are likely to see them return to the ring for the 2014 yearling sales. Breeding mares are the next to catch the attention of buyers at Tattersalls for the December Mare Sale (2-5 December) – in particular the ten mares in foal to Frankel will undoubtedly generate a lot of interest.
