Foal life saving surgery extension

The insurance provided by the policy extends to reimburse reasonable and customary fees for General Anaesthetic surgical procedures as listed below: performed to save the life of an insured animal as specified in the policy schedule.

Surgery procedures covered:

  • Emergency colic surgery
  • Emergency fracture repair

Also to pay for reasonable and customary after-care while the Insured animal is kept on the premises where the surgery is performed.

After-care is limited to:

  • 50% of the cost of surgery and
  • No more than fifteen days from the time of surgery

The combined limit of liability for covered surgery and after-care is £5,000 per animal per policy year.

Deductible £150 shall be applied to each separate claim during the policy year.

Conditions:

It is a condition precedent to liability that the Insured shall provide to the Company within thirty days after surgery:

  • A report signed by the treating veterinarian describing the surgery performed and describing the animal’s condition and:
  • Copies of all service bills for which the claim is made.

This endorsement does not provide insurance for:-

  • Any surgery not listed in this wording
  • Any surgery not performed by a licensed veterinarian in a
    a) school of veterinary medicine or
    b) surgical clinic or
  • Conditions existing, diagnosed or treated prior to the effective date of this endorsement or reoccurrence there of or
  • Any examination, medical treatment or medication unless it is given in conjunction to the Insured surgical procedure being claimed or
  • Operations not performed under a general anaesthesia or
  • Any elective or voluntary surgical procedure or
  • Death benefits or
  • Post-mortem surgical operations
  • Any animal under 24 hours

Subject otherwise to the terms and conditions and limitations contain in the Policy.
