David Ashby – Managing Director and Principal Underwriter
Following a lifetime interest in horses, racing and steeplechasing, David became involved in the Bloodstock insurance world as a Loss Adjustor in the 1980s, and then made the transition to the risk business, with a Lloyd’s syndicate in 1983. He has worked in Lloyd’s ever since. David remains an active horse owner, rider and competitor.
Simon Hepworth – General Manager and Director
Simon joined Amlin Plus in October 2006 having held a variety of positions in underwriting, marketing and business development, systems developement and project management over a period of 15 year with Amlin. Simon holds the position of General Manager and was made a Director in 2009.
Julian Lloyd – Lead Class Underwriter
Julian joined Amlin after 20 years of developing the Bloodstock book at Hiscox. His market career started in 1971 at Sedgwick Collyns, which later became Methuen, before his move to Hiscox. Julian has 35 years of Bloodstock underwriting experince and is the chairman of the LMA’s Livestock Business Panel. Julian divides his time between Amlin in London and his farm in Yorkshire breeding horses and prize-winning cattle.
Laura Brown – Underwriter
Laura joined Amlin Plus in December 2007. Having grown up with horses and then spending 3 years working in racing, she decided on a move to London, and Bloodstock insurance proved the perfect combination of interests and career. Laura’s background is in racing, showing and hunting. She still rides when she can but time constraints tend to limit this to just the odd day out hunting.
Heidi Roberts – Underwriter
Heidi joined Amlin Plus in April 2011 after 6 years working at Hiscox, with 2 of those years working as deputy to Julian Lloyd in the Bloodstock team. Heidi has a degree in Equine Science from Hartpury College and spent 2 years before joining Hiscox, working for a small horse insurance company dealing with underwriting and claims. Heidi has 2 horses of her own that she rides when she can. One is semi-retired and the other is an ex-racehorse that she hopes to compete in dressage competitions and ROR classes.
Siena Knight Bruce -Underwriter
Siena joined Amlin Plus in October 2012 after graduting from the University of Exeter with a first class degree in Business Management. Siena comes from a hunting family, and evented up to 2* level, competing in the Junior and Young Rider trials. She continues to return to Devon whenever she can to hunt at the weekends and enjoys showing at county level.
Terrie Frazer – Assistant Underwriter
Terrie joined Amlin Plus in August 2014 after seeing out her fifth breeding season in the thoroughbred world. She has had an insight into the thoroughbred breeding operation on an international level after having spent two breeding seasons in the Southern Hemisphere working for Coolmore Australia, as well as Catlehyde Stud and Glenview Stud in Ireland. Terrie graduated in 2012 from the University of Limerick with a degree in Equine Science. She has always had a love for horses, competing in local gymkanas and hunter trials from an early age as well as going on to ride out for a local national hunt trainer.
Danielle Djemal – Underwriting Assistant
Danielle joined Amlin Plus in March 2015. She has a degree in Equine Breeding and Stud Management from Writtle College and prior to joining the team, spent 1 year working for Dengie Horse Feeds after graduating, and the last 2 years as an equine account handler at Shearwater Insurance Services. Danielle has grown up riding and now has two horses of her own – one that she competes in dressage competitions and her old competition pony that is now enjoying retirement.
Kate Moon – Claims Adjuster
Kate is an equine vet and joined the claims team at Amlin Plus in March 2013. Since graduating from veterinary school in 2003, her working life has included an internship in Newmarket, many years working at a hospital-based practice in Lambourn and a stud season in Matamata, New Zealand.
Rebecca Cole – Senior Underwriting Analyst
Rebecca joined the Amlin Plus team in April 2015 having previously worked in financial services. She has a degree in Bioveterinary Science from The Royal Veterinary College. Rebecca has a passion for all equine disciplines and has successfully competed in eventing.
